Sally Todd is a fourth-year student studying Industrial Design at James Madison University (JMU).  Sally is originally from the Boston area of Massachusetts where she lived until moving to Virginia for school.  She seeks to combine a background in community outreach and creative problem-solving methodologies, like design thinking, as a University Innovation Fellow this year.

At JMU, Sally’s interests grew within the Industrial Design major as she studied courses involving product design, innovation, consumerism, UX, and sustainability.  She is currently the Vice President of her major’s pre-professional organization, the Industrial Designers Society of America.  Additionally, she is a member of the US Department of Energy’s Collegiate Wind Competition, where Sally and a team of cross-discipline JMU students are designing a wind turbine and its proposed business model.

She hopes the UIF program will enable more collaborative, cross-departmental courses at JMU so to engage students in solving real-world problems.
