Drew Craven is a member of Grand Valley State University’s Innovation Fellows. He is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Mathematics and Mechatronics. He grew up in Baroda, MI, though he presently holds residence in Grand Rapids, MI after spending one year in Allendale, MI.

At the beginning of Drew’s high school career, he instantly became involved with several programs which introduced him to innovation; namely FIRST Robotics, Solar Racing, and MCBA Marching Band. These tools were strong leadership utilities for his later participation in pitch competitions, an honors course “Design Thinking for Social Product Innovation,” and in the University Innovation Fellows during college.

Outside of academics and the Innovation Fellows, Drew takes on several extracurricular clubs. A few of these are: Formula SAE, Swing Dance, Fencing, Boxing, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, FIRST Alumni Network, and Social Product Innovation club. In addition, he is a member of the Frederik Meijer Honors College, mentors a high school robotics team in design software and principles, and works as both a mechanical and controls engineer for Automated Machine Systems. In the future, he will be involved in the mechanical engineering and automation divisions of Autocam Medical.
