Alaa Suleiman is a sophomore at Elon University majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Inter-religious Studies. She has an interdisciplinary range of subjects she enjoys, while she is currently focusing on bettering her technical skills, Alaa also has experience in Marketing, and Digital Media. As a University innovation Fellow, she aims to execute innovative skills which can notonly advance her University, but benefit and provide for her community as well.
At Elon University, Alaa is involved in the Active Minds Organization, the Undergraduate Research Student Association, the Elon Commuting Society, Women in Computer Science and the Elon Muslim Society. In addition, she is currently working with Elon Volunteers as a Student leader for Alternative Break Service trips. During her Fall and Spring breaks at Elon, she will be leading ten participants to different locations and completing service followed by reflections and educational components.
Throughout her high school career, Alaa has always enjoyed subjects related to STEM. She has worked side by side with faculty members ranging from different departments as well as female entrepreneurs in the fashion industry which essentially inspired her to apply for Elon. Alaa discovered the University Innovation Fellows program after a computer science teacher recommended all students to apply. With the help of her team members apart of this program as well as faculty members at Elon, Alaa hopes to achieve the best for Elon and promote this program as much as possible.
