Fellow:Emma De Leon
Emma de Leon is a current University Innovation Fellow Candidate for the Fall 2017 Cohort. She is an energetic, caring, and determined student. She's from Fuquay-Varina a small town outside of Raleigh, North Carolina where she
spent countless nights and weekends dedicated to her passion for the sport of soccer. Currently, she is in her junior (3rd Year) at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia (Go Dukes!). Over the last 21 years she have experienced many different, some less than ideal, situations driving her passion and desire to help people. So because of those expierence she is pursuing a degree in Psychology with a concentration in Industrial Organization and minoring in both Human Resources Development and Anthropology. This passion for helping translates into various aspects of her life, outside the academic community in Greek community she serves as her sorority’s Director of Philanthropy. In this position she plan, organize, and execute various events to raise money for the Cardiac Unit at the local Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. In Emma's academic community she aids as a Mentor / TA for students running the Virginia / DC State First LEGO League tournament which is held annually at JMU. Most recently she began working as a Student Assistant for 4-VA which is an initiative created by the state to connect and collaborate with major universities all across Virginia.
