PROMOTING STUDENT INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

MITS always shows more interest on innovation and entrepreneurial environment and puts its hands first to develop such skills in the students. As part of this, a distinct office for INNOVATIVE ACTIVITIES has been established on 2nd November-2015 in the MITS campus, which  creates a platform for students to express their ideas. Here the ideas will be groomed with the help of the faculty. In 2015, incubation center has also been established to provide some space to flourish the ideas. The innovative ideas of the students helps them to become successful entrepreneurs. Keeping this in vision Entrepreneurship Development Cell was established in the year 2010 which creates and foster entrepreneurial culture among students by identifying, training and motivating students to become entrepreneurs. ED cell and Innovation cell conducts various workshops and awareness programs. One among those activities is DIYA(Dynamics Ideas by Young Aspirants) which encourages the start-up ideas of students and also the excelled ideas are funded by reputed funding agencies. Apart from these, eminent personnel from industry(entrepreneurs), financial institutions(Banks), and academics will be invited to interact and to empower the knowledge in the concern fields that enrich the students how to start an entrepreneur at their own cost and procedures to be followed further. In addition to this, MITS conducts many competitions help students to showcase their innovative ideas.

Innovation club is initiated by the University Innovation Fellows of MITS to help the students to come up with innovative ideas that would help the society and make the world a better place. It is a platform for students where their ideas will ignite, innovate and incubate into products. The club hosts many events (such as project expo ), by which students find their interest and participate in them with enthusiasm, eventually helping the students to bring out the best in them and give the best product as output.

MITS is having a swift development in the participation of the students for whom particular organizations like DST-PRISM (Promoting Innovations in Individuals Startups and MSME), TBI (Technology Business Incubators) are providing funds to innovate and incubate ideas into products.

Student Research Grant:

   In the present world, scientific research plays a vital role in solving major economic, social, and environmental challenges. The La Foundation of Dassault Systemes (Dassault Systemes Foundation, India) works dedicatedly in the development of a more sustainable society through driving innovations and improvisations in Higher education.  This in effect provides a wide research facilities and gives equal access to students along with faculties.  The La Foundation initiative of “3DEXPERIENCE Lab”, has  empowered researchers to stretch their knowledge limits by enabling them to work on life-like digital models of the real world. The Desalination project @MITS aims to serve our society in impeccable ways was highly supported by La Foundation Dassault Systemes.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) cell @MITS has a leading role in facilitating knowledge and financial support avenues in the  areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers & telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics among others. To foster and nurture interest among the upcoming engineering professionals, the IEEE serves a student chapter in our institute and provides opportunity to identify and secure seed grants for their research.

Indian Society for Technical Education:

ISTE at MITS  fosters research as complementary to teaching. This encourages innovation and excellence in students through various means and provides training to the students to become "Master Students". ISTE brings out effective linkage between technical institutions, industry and society. It even Modifies curriculum and educational processes to change conditions. This enhances the self-confidence and self-esteem of students and helps in Cultivating fraternal spirit amongst the teachers, administrators, industrialists, professionals. ENCOURAGING FACULTY INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

      

MITS is very keen at selecting faculty. Faculty at MITS not only endeavor innovative thoughts among students but also proposes many innovative projects, research proposals and MITS helps them to get funded for those proposals from various

organization. The professors and assistant professors from various departments along with teaching students perform various research activities in their respective domains. In many cases they collaborate with the students to achieve excellent outcomes, which eventually leads to a start-up. Our college also organizes many faculty development workshops and guest lectures.

In general, Faculty Development Programs are running in order to bring awareness as well as to provide exposure to state-of-the-art subjects in diverse areas of science and technology and to make sure that higher education is consistently enriching. Faculty Development programs are specially designed in such a way which improves knowledge & skills through Courses/Seminars/ Symposia/ Conferences/Workshops. At MITS we have faculty who hold their Ph.Ds from reputed institutes in India & foriegn countries. Conducting such Faculty Development programs is a great breakthrough for the faculty to reflect their knowledge which proves that collaboration is far better than a competition. This results in building trust and respect among faculty in the institute. MITS emphasizes faculty members towards their Professional Growth, which individually develop their responsibilities as educators, researchers, administrators and we strongly encourage such programs.

SHARP(Student High Activity in Research Projects) is a platform for students, wherein faculty who are performing research in various fields engage students to guide and train them on the particular field to help students to gain required skills and knowledge on the field. Students get benefited dually through the research outcomes and the financial incentive of ₹1000 provided by the institution to those who are working with the faculty on research projects. This initiative helps students to participate in the research program and get expertise in the field of work through practice. It also motivates more faculties to take up a research project on their field of interest and the students will assist the faculty, making the work easier and can do their research work in a tight schedule.

Research & Development Division:

MITS has played an important role as a source of new ideas and has been supporting young innovators in technology and science.  MITS’s goal is to create an ambience for the leaders and innovators of tomorrow, where new ideas and research flourish.  In fulfilment of these points of importance, R&D division established at MITS has taken an initiative to promote research, innovations, consultancy activities and also facilitates the protection of Intellectual Property (IP). The Faculty Research Projects Committee (FRPC) of MITS has formulated effective measures to monitor the progress of Projects and activities related to Research on a time to time basis.

To foster the culture of excellence in research, innovation, entrepreneurship, rational thinking and civility, provision of  necessary resources for dissemination and utilization of knowledge has been completely taken care. ACTIVELY SUPPORTING THE UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FUNCTION

Our Institute has TE which provides funds and transfers for students and faculty to complete their projects. It. It mainly concentrates on helping students financially like a backbone. Students need not worry about the funds and can purely concentrate on their respective projects which ultimately gives the desired outputs. Next we have TECHNICAL CLUB where everyone from different departments can collaborate easily in order to share and develop their technical skills. As of now everyone can get information about all the current technologies and can execute many projects. It also provides industrial exposure regarding latest trends in technology and can have a practical experience what it is actually about.

The Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme of Govt of India(TEQIP 2) conceived in pursuance of the National Policy on Education(NPE)-1986 (as revised in 1992). The programme aim is to upscale & support ongoing efforts of GOI to improve quality of technical education & enhance existing capacities of the institutions to become dynamic, demand-driven, quality conscious, efficient &forward looking, responsive to rapid economic & technological developments occurring both at national & international levels.

The broad objectives of the programme are to create an environment in which engineering institutions selected under the Programme can achieve their own set targets for excellence & sustain the same with autonomy & accountability, support development plans including synergistic networking & services to community & economy for achieving higher standards & to improve efficiency & effectiveness of the technical education management system. The effort would provide a flexible platform to well performing institutions to acquire excellence in specialized areas& emerge in world class institutions.

This program enables students to learn new technology or technical language and many other facilities are being provided by the government of Andhra Pradesh. The govt. has provided a SCALEUP LAB in which all the workshops are held in.

IPR Assistance:

The Institute would like to strengthen the research, leading to filing of patents. If any innovation is done, the Institute shall encourage the researchers, scholars and students to patent it. However, when a scholar files for a patent, a thorough scrutiny will be carried out at different levels namely: Departmental, Institute level which has experts.

The Institute Is bearing all expenditure for filing applications for patents. The Institute shall create awareness about intellectual property rights among faculty, researchers, scholars and students from time to time as per the IPR Policy of the Institute.

FACILITATING UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COLLABORATION

MITS is successful in promoting the interaction of the industry and various departments of the institute, with the help of Industry-Institute Interaction Cell (IIIC) . IIIC was established in MITS with an objective to explore and identify common avenues of interaction with industry as per the requirements of the institution.

It bridges the gap between industry and institute by initiating and coordinating industry based research. Industry Institute Partnership forms an important activity for any academic institute as its stakeholders interact with the real world. The students are benefited from the cell in the form of internships and industrial interactions. By going to internships students get a chance to explore new things. III cell in collaboration with ED cell conducted seminars on “ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT” on 19th September 2017 . Computer Society of India:

CSI nurtures the new entrants into the industry, helping them to integrate into the IT community. This helps in facilitating knowledge in research and career enhancement for all categories of IT professionals. CSI enriches students to gain knowledge on Entrepreneurship and also encourages the students to launch new ventures. The CSI also works closely with other industry associations, government bodies and academia to ensure that the benefits of IT advancement ultimately percolate down to every single citizen of India. They also share their experiences about their success and failures of growth as an entrepreneur and motivate students at the plethora of opportunities they have in the World.

ENGAGING WITH REGIONAL AND LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS

Along with Innovation & Entrepreneurship, MITS concentrates on community serviceorientedactivities. As part of it, NSS(National Service Scheme) has been introduced in the year of2003. The main objective of this scheme is education and service to the community and by the community.  MITS under this cell has been participating in all societal activities. It helps the students to communicate with thesocietyandalso students often go the rural areas and try to develop a technocratic environment and help the underprivileged people to develop themselves. It adopts villages and the NSS volunteers undertake various activities in those villages which generally include eradication of illiteracy, watershed management andwasteland development, health nutritionandhygiene,campaignagainstsocial evilsetc., We also have MITS Social Responsibility(MSR) club, which also looks over of all these activities under NSS

The Safer India Challenge is a 9 months long championship held annually, with the aim to reduce the death rate caused due to road accidents to half by 2020. It is an initiative of Indian Road Safety Campaign and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways held for colleges all across India.Weare proud to say that our college has been contributing to this program since last year i.e.July,2017. Every year, from our college, freshman students and senior students join to form a team and work on how to make the roads of India safer and to reduce the death rate caused by accidents. Some of thegroupsideasare being converted to prototypes to test the product and implement them.

Community Radio Station

MITS RADIO 90.8 CRS is the Madanapalle’s 1st FM Community Radio operating from the Madanapalle Institute of Technology & Science, the Institute of 24 years’ academic excellence. Madanapalle Institute of Technology & Science is an autonomous college approved by AICTE and affiliated to JNTUA, Anantapur. It forms as a part of the educational institution functioning under the management of Ratakonda Ranga Reddy Educational Academy, the 24- year-old legacy doing yeomen service in the Education and Industry sectors.

Dr. N. Vijaya Bhaskar Choudary, Ph.D., Secreta r y & Correspondent, initiated the MITS Radio 90.8 CRS under the stewardship of Ms. Keerthi Nadella Executive Director and Dr. C. Yuvaraj, Principal, MITS. It functions with the vision of culminating societal activities on a larger canvas by blending, its core mission of creating intellectual awareness with art & entertainment.

The application for setting up the Community Radio was submitted to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in November 2018, which in turn issued the Letter of Intent (LOI) in September 2019, WPC assigned the Frequency of 90.8 MHz in the month of September 2019, SACFA siting Clearence was obtained in February 2022 and the Grant of Permission of Agreement (GoPA) was signed between the MITS and the MIB (Ministry of Information & Broadcasting) in the month of March 2022. Further, MITS received WOL (Wireless Operating License) in the Month of January 2023.

The formal inauguration of the MITS Radio 90.8 MHz Community Radio Station took place on June 24, 2023. It featured a 4-hour broadcast from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM, followed by a repeat broadcast from 04:00 PM to 06:00 PM. The event was i n a ugurated by Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), in New Delhi. The presence of such a prominent figure in the field added great significance to the occasion. The 4-hour broadcast marked the beginning of the radio station's journey, introducing a new medium of communication and engagement to the community.

  AERO MECHATRONICS

   MITS takes the opportunity to develop the skills of students in multidisciplinary streams and to dig out the hidden potentials of students apart from academics. The main motto is to enhance all students to participate actively in their passionate club under MITS society.   Aero mechatronics is a combination of mechanical, electrical and software engineering. The purpose of this multidisciplinary engineering field is the study of automata from an engineering perspective and serves thepurposes of controlling advanced hybrid systems. It helps students in creating a design solution that unifies each of the electrical, mechanical work and they get an idea of how to control a system. This thinking and coordination process is to imbibe in all students and work efficiently in every aspect to innovate new trends in mechanics.

  MITS Universal Human Values Cell is constituted, with the following members, to ensure proper infrastructure and structure for UHV Cell as per guidelines of AICTE, to articulate, refine & share vision and educational goals, particularly those that are related to Universal Human Values and to define indicators or measures related to Universal Human Values goals & activities.   Film Makers Club

  This Film Makers Club is open to all students interested in making, directing, filming, acting in, or editing student films and photography in our campus. Our goal is to bring together students who are interested in film and film making in order to encourage and provide support and guidance for student filmmaking, photography interests and activities. Objectives: • To encourage and motivate the creating aspirants in MITS. • To bring together students from all backgrounds, with all kinds of interests and areas of expertise, and allow them to work in the field of their interest and hone their skills in video production. • Our club intends to encourage students in the field of dramatics by enacting plays, making short films and thereby enabling students to develop their interpersonal skills. Activities Planned: • Coming up with different stage shows and short films at a constant basis. • Organizing various short film competitions as well as stage shows showcasing acting talent. • Preparing a firm editing team and a good team. • Making short films on society and environmental issues. • Learning both about film and film-making. • To engage the students in a common interest of photography. • To spot the shots that shows the defects in nature and in students. • To get promote the college in films by conducting contests on short film. • The camera for short film has to be brought by student. • Our College Short films will be promoted in Social Media. Joining in our club might expose you to new genres, directors and pictures you’ve never heard of before.
