Predictive analytics for city infrastructure, interdisciplinary research, data-driven decision-making, design thinking workshops, transitioning from mechanical engineering to data science, SQL/Python/Tableau/Power BI tips, Student leadership, urban mobility optimization, systems innovation, and the intersection of AI and societal impact.

Venkata Subbarao Mupparaju is a data analyst, researcher, and Stanford University-trained University Innovation Fellow who blends technical skills with a passion for community-focused innovation. With a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology (India, Class of 2023) and an M.S. in Computer Information Systems from Christian Brothers University (USA, Class of 2025), he works at the intersection of data science, intelligent systems, and real-world impact.

He is currently a Data Research Analyst at Community Dreams Foundation, where he supports data-driven nonprofit programs designed to uplift underserved communities. His work involves cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing large datasets to deliver actionable insights for civic and organizational decision-making.

Previously, as a Graduate Assistant at Christian Brothers University, Venkata built and maintained interactive Power BI dashboards to track KPIs related to student enrollment, IT support, and academic performance. He collaborated with academic and IT teams to automate reporting pipelines and ensure data integrity across systems.

He has also held fellowships with Start Co., where he analyzed city mobility data, and the Ford Urbanite Memphis City Challenge, where he led data cleaning and visualization efforts for transportation systems. His ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders has made him a valuable contributor in cross-functional environments.

Research & Projects

Venkata’s graduate capstone project, titled Data-Driven Urban Mobility, focused on forecasting traffic congestion in New York City using public datasets and LightGBM modeling. He developed an automated ETL pipeline and an interactive Power BI dashboard to inform urban planning decisions. The project offered actionable strategies to improve traffic flow and transit systems and reflected his deep interest in urban analytics and intelligent infrastructure.

His undergraduate research at VVIT culminated in a published paper on “MMC Al-6063 Reinforced with SiC”, where he explored the mechanical and microstructural behavior of advanced materials. This early experience in materials science built his foundation in experimental research and technical documentation.

Campus Involvement & Leadership

Venkata has been an active leader on both his undergraduate and graduate campuses, shaping initiatives that foster innovation, student success, and interdisciplinary learning.

At Christian Brothers University, he served as:

  • President of the Graduate Student Organization (GSO)
  • Graduate School Senator, Student Government Association
  • Member, Presidential Student Advisory Council

He organized design thinking workshops and innovation ventures that empowered students to solve cross-disciplinary problems using empathy and iterative prototyping. These initiatives were deeply inspired by his training as a University Innovation Fellow at Stanford’s d.school.

At VVIT, he served as:

  • University Innovation Fellow (UIF)
  • Student Head, Entrepreneur Council
  • Central Working Committee Member, Student Activity Council
  • Co-Founder, Foreign Language Club
  • Organizer, Campus “Shark Tank” competition for student entrepreneurs

He also created platforms for alumni-student networking, peer mentoring, and cross-campus collaboration, encouraging a culture of curiosity, risk-taking, and self-driven learning.

Long-Term Vision

Venkata’s long-term goal is to pursue a Ph.D. in AI, intelligent systems, or urban analytics, focusing on real-world applications that make industries smarter and communities more resilient. He is especially interested in applying machine learning and systems engineering to solve problems in Industrial Engineering, infrastructure, and public policy.

He brings a rare combination of technical expertise, social impact focus, and collaborative leadership, making him a versatile contributor in any organization or research environment.
