Bio

Dr. D. V. Seshagirirao is an accomplished academician, researcher, and mechanical engineer with expertise in CAD automation, additive manufacturing, and UAV operations. With over 15 years of combined experience in academia and industry, he has made significant contributions to turbine blade design, tool and fixture development, additive manufacturing research, and drone technology applications. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor and Core Training & Placement Officer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at VVITU, Guntur, while also coordinating the Siemens Centre of Excellence under APSSDC. His diverse career reflects a strong balance between research, teaching, consultancy, and industry collaboration.

In his academic career, Dr. D.V. Seshagirirao has played a vital role in training students, guiding research projects, and enhancing placement opportunities. His consultancy work has bridged academia and industry, enabling applied research in engineering domains such as additive manufacturing and material testing. Beyond teaching, he has actively mentored students through internships, industrial visits, and specialized training programs, ensuring their preparedness for professional roles. His work as a licensed UAV pilot has also led to hands-on workshops and research applications in drone technology.

Before transitioning to academia, he gained substantial industry experience with leading companies. At QuEST Global, Bangalore, he worked as a Design Engineer for Rolls-Royce Offshore Support, specializing in turbine blade design, CAD automation, and parametric modeling. Earlier, at Makino India Pvt. Ltd., he contributed as a Tool Designer and Design Engineer, developing cutting tools and hydraulic/mechanical fixtures for prominent clients such as Mahindra, Tata, JCB, and Eicher. His industry expertise in tool design, process planning, and turnkey project execution continues to inform his academic and consultancy work.

An active researcher, Dr. D.V. Seshagirirao has authored multiple publications on additive manufacturing, material properties, and lean manufacturing practices. His Ph.D. research focuses on metal additive manufacturing, with notable studies on mechanical behavior, wear resistance, and orientation effects in Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) alloys. In addition, he holds a design patent and has provided consultancy services for industrial projects, including e-bike battery housing solutions. Combining academic leadership, industrial knowledge, and certified UAV expertise, he remains dedicated to advancing mechanical engineering education, research, and its real-world applications.
