Bio
Samuel Ramirez is an Elon University student of the 2020-2024 graduating class. He was born in Medellin, Colombia on July 4, 2002 and currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is pursuing a major in Molecular Biology and minors in Chemistry, French, and Art. He is interested in undergraduate research and is weighing potential plans for the Lumen research program or study abroad. He is part of the bio club and a recent inductee of the Tri-Beta Honors Biology Society. His jobs on campus have included working as a YMCA counselor, library student staff member, and lab TA.
He would describe himself as having always been curious, enthusiastic, and more than willing to assist others in whatever he can. It is his belief that satisfaction is derived from hard work that benefits others, the immediate surroundings, and the larger environment. His current broad goals are to explore the intersections between his passions and along the journey, make a positive impact. He does his best to live by the philosophy that "you should leave each place you reach better than you found it".
His interests throughout the years have included indoor rock climbing, painting, audiobooks, fitness, volunteering, Netflix binges, video games, vegetarian living, languages, and microscopy. He loves his friends and family deeply and looks forward to spending as much time as he can with them. He is hopeful to develop further interests and skills in the upcoming years and live life to the fullest.
Achievements
High School: National Honor Society, AP Scholar, National Hispanic Scholar, Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar. Earned Associate Degree and High School diploma simultaneously.
College: Elon University Presidential Scholarship, Jerry W. Lawson Biology Scholarship, and Reddish-Morgan Biology Scholarship.
