Tran Nguyen is a UIF fellow who graduated from Berea College in 2017. Since she became a UIF fellow in 2015, Tran has been promoting design thinking and entrepreneurship within and outside the UIF program. The Fellows program empowers students to be change agents on campus, by creating programming and resources to prepare students to be the workforce of the future.
Tran discovered her interest in entrepreneurship through her participation in the Berea College’s Entrepreneurship for the Public Good (EPG) Program, where she previously worked as a Program Manager. In her position, she worked closely with students who demonstrate an interest in entrepreneurship to recruit them for the EPG Summer Institute and facilitated design thinking workshop for student outreach. Partnered up with the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation, she also organized the first Social Entrepreneurship Field trip for 6 universities in the Southern regions.
Tran now supports the UIF community by serving as a mentor for UIF candidates. She was also a Fab (short for “Fabulous” - facilitator) at the UIF Silicon Valley Meetup in Fall 2017. Tran aspires to bring design thinking and the entrepreneurial mindset to other countries and she has piloted this work with a workshop for students in young professional in Vietnam in July 2017. She continues to pursue her passion for helping those who left behind by delivering design thinking workshop and consulting non-profit organizations. Tran is based in Indianapolis, IN where she works as a Decision-Support Analyst for The Resource Group. Tran Nguyen holds a B.A. in Public Policy (independent major) from Berea College.
