Bio

Julian is a graduate student pursuing a degree in Applied Image & Signal Processing as part of the Joint Master Degree between the University of Salzburg and FH Salzburg (University of Applied Sciences Salzburg). His main focus is on audiovisual media, from capture to processing as well as analysis, working with libraries like openCV, numpy, pandas etc., while not eshewing unassisted coding. Julian obtained his Bachelor's degree in Information Technology and Systems Management at FH Salzburg (2018- 2021).

Before pursuing his academic degrees, Julian was a head of the design department at a media company, active in print and publishing, in the heart of Upper Austria. He has over ten years of professional experience in the areas of print, media design and publishing. Throughout his career, developed a wide portfolio of traditional media formats as well as digital products.

From a very young age Julian has cultivated an interest in art, design and music. As part of music bands and art groups, he gained fist-hand experience of the process of creation and design. Julian aims to combine his creative interests with professional advancement in fields of computer science and image processing as well as digital colour. Avid electric bass guitarist and coffee connoisseur.

Achievements

Apprenticeship PrePress Technician

He oversaw the technical aspects of the printing workflow. Those included raw data processing, color management and job imposition/composition.

Apprenticeship MediaDesign

He created a range of print products: magazines, books and ad hoc commercial products. The portfolio was complemented by digital solutions such as e-books, websites, apps, VR-content and other.

Social Year, "Lebenshilfe Braunau"

Julian volunteered at "Lebenshilfe Braunau" as a caregiver for people with disabilities.

Head of Design

Responsible for the Design- and PrePress department within the company's printing branch. Julian was in charge of color management and oversaw all the prepress workflows and processes.

Bachelors Degree in Informationtechnology and Systems Management

With significant professional experience and supported by the state scholarship, Julian started his academic career at the FH Salzburg (University of Applied Sciences Salzburg) in 2018. Among his fields of study were: signal processing, programming (C, C++, Python), media informatics, data science, electronics, network managment and security.
