Gavan Huang is student studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He decided to study this because of his strong belief in multi-disciplinary skills for the workforce and chose UTS because its push for entrepreneurial and innovative thinking. 

He is the Founder of the Professional Aeronautics and Astronautics Society UTS (PAAS UTS) which is affiliated with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). The society promotes technical and professional development in the aerospace field, through networking events, seminars, space projects and workshops. As well, Gavan teaches the first space-related subject at the University of Technology Sydney, where students use the Design Thinking process to let students to connect and network with industry and solve real world problems. This exposes engineers into real world problem solving and entrepreneurial thinking.  

Out of university, he runs 'OrbitOz', a monthly meetup for the Sydney space entrepreneurship community to promote collaboration and develop new space business in Australia. He leads this community help provide a home for space startups to feel safe when experimenting and close to help bridge people with similar interests and vision in regards to space and entrepreneurship. 

What inspires him is the need to help the world through science and technology. As a result, for him, space technology is a tool to help push humanity to the next level where bridging nations to collaborate and unite through the advancement of technology and science is the best way to challenge the status quo.

In his free time, he sings, plays guitar and piano. He longboards and does photography.
