BIO

I serve as the Interim Chair/Instructor of Mathematics in University College at Jackson State University.  In this position, my responsibilities include using research and data to drive curricular decisions concerning academic support courses and services to improve the academic performance for all students and teaching College Algebra with Corequisite Support and Quantitative Reasoning courses.  I earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with Specialization in Curriculum and Instruction, a master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences, and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Secondary Education.  I served on the team for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Frontier Set and the Principal Investigator and Project Lead in The Every Learner Everywhere Digital Equity Researcher-Practitioner Partnership Project.  I was 2022 Distinguished Member Jackson State University Chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, 2020 NOSS National Organization for Student Success (NOSS) Nomination for Gladys R. Shaw Award for Outstanding Service to and Support of Student Success Programs, and 2019 Mississippi Association for Developmental Education (MADE) Recipient for The Vashi Muse Outstanding Developmental Educator of the Year Award for the State of Mississippi.  I am also a Developmental Education Specialist certified through the Kellogg Institute and holds a Class AAAA Educator License in Mathematics (7-12).
