Meredith Hinz is a University Innovation Fellow at Grand Valley State University. She is an undergraduate student studying Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering with a minor in Mathematics and Marketing. She is also a member of the Frederik Meijer Honors College. Meredith is originally from Warren, MI, and now lives in Allendale, MI throughout the school year.


In her freshman year at Grand Valley, Meredith took a course through the Honors College called “Design Thinking for Social Product Innovation.” This is where she first got inspired by design thinking, as well as discovering the University Innovation Fellows program.

In her spare time, Meredith works as a tutor at Innovation Central High School, focusing on math and science. She participates in intramural sports, plays the ukulele, is the vice president for Social Innovation Cub, and is involved in Campus Ministry on Grand Valley’s campus. This summer, Meredith will spend a month traveling through Ireland, Scotland, and England, on a study abroad trips to widen her knowledge of various cultures throughout the world.
