Bio
My name is Tamara Wood, and I am from the Bronx, New York. I am currently majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. I decided to add a concentration to my major because I have always been passionate about creating a better criminal justice system since being in high school. During my freshman year at Shaw University, I also decided to minor in African American Studies because I wanted to expand on my knowledge of Black culture. At my university, I am currently the chief of staff to the student body president. In my free time, I enjoy working out and trying to learn new things, such as doing my own hair and nails. I am also a part of a non-profit organization in the Bronx called Dear Black Girl. I grew up as a mentee in this program, and now that I am older, occasionally I mentor other young girls and provide clerical work when needed as part of community service.
Achievements
-During my freshman year at Shaw University, I had my first research paper published on my school's writing center blog - Received the Dean's list award for Fall semester 2021 for maintaining a 3.95 GPA
