Fellow:Kirat Mokha
“One of my life goals is to invent a new kind of camera sensor,” said Mokha. “In high school I took a lot of Project Lead The Way courses, which took me through different types of engineering. I concluded that electrical engineering would provide me with the opportunity to work in a field that I like and help me fulfill my goals for the future.”
Once Mokha had a vision for the future, he decided to tour MSOE. “As soon as I came to campus, I knew that this was the university for me. MSOE just gave out a very strong vibe of this great community and family that works together.”
Mokha immerses himself in the MSOE community through multiple campus groups. He is the president of MSOE’s Martial Arts Club, participates on the MSOE Men’s Varsity Rowing team, and is the senator of MSOE Student Government. His latest venture is joining the University Innovation Fellows (UIF).
“When I read about UIF, it immediately seemed like something that I would want to be involved in. I have always been a huge advocate of being creative, encouraging positive changes, and looking at problems from a different perspective,” said Mokha.
Mokha hopes to use UIF as a platform to connect people, collaborate, and open the community up to sharing ideas with others—even the ideas that lay on the “crazy” end of the spectrum.
“I am really excited to be a part of this platform that allows me to interact with all of the community at MSOE, collaborate with new people, look at the different perspectives everyone has to offer, and overall give more opportunities for people to showcase their ideas and concepts.”
Creativity and innovation don’t stop there for Mokha. He sings, plays piano, guitar, bass, drums and is part of a rock band at MSOE.
Mokha works at the Fluid Power Institute as an undergraduate research assistant and as a tutor at the Raider Center for Academic Success (RCAS). Originally from India, he hopes to continue exploring the world with the German Exchange Program his junior year.
