Alongside his Engineering major, Kareem is pursuing a Robotics minor and doing an independent study of a city in Kenya which lacks some common conventionalities like water and heating.  He is originally from Northern Virginia.  His strong interest in math and science as well as his ambition for building things and discovering new and creative ways to solve problems, led him to the JMU Engineering School. It was at JMU that he was exposed to University Innovation Fellows and their ability to build an entrepreneurial mindset in today's college students.

At JMU Kareem is a resident advisor, assisting first year students in their transition to college. In this position Kareem oversees more than 35 students. In his spare time he tutors students in subjects varying from third-level-calculus to programming languages and plays on an intramural basketball team.
