Bio

Tanaka Mbavarira is a motivated individual majoring in Computer Engineering with a minor in Mathematics at Johnson C Smith University. He is always looking for innovative ways to problem-solving and actively takes up any opportunities to solve complex problems. Tanaka has participated in competitions like the NASA Minds Undergraduate Student Design and HBCU Battle of the Brains. He is a 3D Technician intern at the James B Duke Memorial Library. In this role, he collaborates with students and educators on hands projects using 3D technologies. Tanaka is also involved on campus and collaborates with other students to create the best college experience. He is a Smith Tech Innovation Institute Fellow and Career Pathways Academy Student Ambassador. He is intentional in how he shows up for himself and others. He values integrity, humility, consistency, and accountability. Tanaka is continuously evolving based on experiences and opportunities. He wants to leverage his unique experiences to effect change.
