Bio

Indiana Sjahputera is currently studying at the Colorado School of Mines for Mechanical Engineering. She is very active on her campus by being in the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) on the executive board as the Media Chair, is a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority, is in the inaugural class of the Vanguard Scholars, and a Florence Caldwell Scholar.

Indiana's direction to studying Mechanical Engineering began when she realized that her school strengths lied in the STEM subjects, but she also enjoys volunteering to help others - specifically veterans. Wanting to fuse her passions and strengths, Indiana is currently majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Biomechanics in the hopes of creating prosthetics for veterans.

In the Summer of 2020, Indiana was a Research Assistant to the Mines Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, where she helped in the study of the type of retrofits needed to improve overall energy efficiency for Colorado homes. For the Fall of 2020, Indiana will be a Seminar Teaching Assistant for the Thorson First-Year Honors Program, a program she was in the year before.

Outside of the classroom, Indiana enjoys playing her flute, going on hikes, and spending time with her family and friends.
