Fellow:Diego Vilchez
Diego Vilchez is a University Innovation Fellow from the Spring 2015 cohort.
Currently a Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineering student who will be done in May 2015. He serves as the Vice President of Society Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) chapter at California State University, Northridge. In this organization he emphasizes in community service and providing Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) awareness to every community. Diego has also been acquiring some industry experience as former quality engineering intern and planner & currently a product development engineering intern. These work experiences is teaching Diego the real engineering industry from the concept of business since productivity needs to be high with the least defects in processes. At the moment, Diego also plays a big role in his senior design team as he is currently in the making of the Hybrid Layered Manufacturing 3D (HLM3D) machine which will do both functions: CNC mill and 3D print. He said, "This will be our prototype and hopefully patent which we will compete this semester against other universities". Finally, due to the fact that a lot of people are not exposed to innovation and entrepreneurship, Diego decided to take a role as a University Innovation Fellow. Diego's goal are to exposed as many people as he can on these topics and to never feel fear on what your instincts are saying.
