Bio

Rin is a second-year student majoring in Chemical and Bioengineering at Tohoku University.

She has a broad range of interests, including cancer drug development, informatics, and global issues.

Career

Rin’s passion for science and global engagement began in high school at Sapporo Kaisei Secondary School, a school with a curriculum focused on globalization.

During her time there, she dedicated a year to a research project on dye-sensitized solar cells, which she considers one of her most significant achievements in high school.

Inspired by an engaging English teacher, Rin developed a strong interest in English, which later expanded to other languages, including linguistics and phonetics.

This growing fascination with languages naturally led her to pursue international exchange and cross-cultural activities.

At Tohoku University, Rin is majoring in Chemical and Bioengineering, while also gaining experience as an administrative assistant in a research laboratory.

In addition to her academic work, Rin is actively involved in "IPLANET", a student organization connecting international and domestic students in Tohoku University.

As one of the leaders, she organizes events, supports new members, and creates spaces that encourage students to challenge themselves and engage with diversity.

Through the University Innovation Fellows program, Rin aims to combine her scientific background and passion for communication to design initiatives that empower students to take creative action without fear of failure. and find what they are truly passionate about.
