I became a UIF in fall 2016 at Southern Illinois University. During my time there, I was able to create a resource guide for first-generation college students as well as help re-vamp the UIF program at SIU. I worked with and mentored the 2018 cohort of UIFs at SIU before graduating in May 2019 with a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. Throughout my time at SIU, I discovered my love for mentoring and supporting college students, which led me to pursuing a master's degree at Colorado State University studying Student Affairs in Higher Education (expected May 2021). I am currently working with UIFs at CSU to create a mentorship program that better supports first and second-year students as they transition to college and find what they're passionate about studying. I am also passionate about social justice, most specifically equity and inclusion within higher education. Once I graduate with my master's, I hope to continue working as a student affairs professional to change and improve the higher education system while creating inclusive environments that support students with marginalized identities. </span></span>

I became a UIF in fall 2016 at Southern Illinois University. During my time at SIU, I was able to create a resource guide for first-generation college students as well as help re-vamp the UIF program. I continued to be involved in UIF at SIU until I graduated in May 2019 with a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. Throughout my time at SIU, I discovered my love for mentoring and supporting college students, which led me to pursuing a master's degree at Colorado State University studying Student Affairs in Higher Education (expected May 2021). I am currently involved with UIF as a uiguide, but I still hope to dig into some of my passion projects in the future. As a future higher education administrator, I am excited to continue using the skills I have gained through UIF to make change on college campuses.
