Project 1 - Design Thinking Workshop for HKBU community
Project Introduction
We would like to organize an engaging Design Thinking Workshop tailored specifically for the HKBU community! This workshop is designed to empower students and professors alike to embrace innovation, build confidence, and tackle real-world challenges in mental health and social innovation.
Through this hands-on experience, participants will dive into the five stages of Design Thinking—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—while focusing on creative solutions for the well-being of our community. You’ll work collaboratively in small teams to explore pressing mental health issues, design user-centered solutions, and apply innovative strategies that can make a lasting social impact.
Whether the participants are new to Design Thinking or already familiar with its concepts, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding, develop new skills, and explore interdisciplinary approaches to addressing societal challenges. By the end of the session, they will have gained not only practical tools for problem-solving but also the confidence to implement their ideas within the HKBU community and beyond.
Tactics
- Promote the mindset of design thinking to the school community
- Promote social innovation to HKBU students
- Implement the project via workshops
- Try to reach out to several I&E courses in General Education
Project 2 - Animal Therapy for HKBU community
Project Introduction
Animal therapy, also known as animal-assisted therapy (AAT), involves interactions between patients and trained animals to promote emotional, social, and cognitive well-being. Animals can provide companionship, reducing feelings of loneliness and anxiety. Besides, interacting with animals can lower cortisol levels and increase serotonin, promoting relaxation.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of university life? Animal therapy might be just what you need! Interacting with therapy animals has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness, making it a fantastic way to enhance your mental well-being. Imagine spending time with a friendly dog or cuddling a calming cat while taking a break from studying or navigating campus life. These furry companions provide comfort, encourage mindfulness, and create a supportive atmosphere. Join us for upcoming events where you can connect with therapy animals and discover the positive impact they can have on your emotional health. Don’t miss this opportunity to unwind and recharge with the help of some amazing four-legged friends!
Tactics
- Conducting an animal therapy workshop is a powerful strategy to promote mental well-being among university students.
- Collaborate with HKAATA (Hong Kong Animal Assisted Therapy Association).
- An opportunity for the organisation to be exposed to the HKBU community.
- Participants will then have the chance to interact with the animals, allowing them to experience firsthand the calming effects of animal companionship.
- Effective promotion is essential. Utilizing social media, campus newsletters, and flyers will help spread the word about the workshop.
- Simple surveys can help gauge student satisfaction and interest in additional workshops or related events. This feedback can guide future programming, ensuring that the workshops continue to meet the needs of the student body.
Project 3 - Arts Tech Meditation Workshops
Project Introduction
The purpose for the Arts Tech Meditation Workshops is to incorporate innovative artistic technologies with healing practices such as meditation. In today’s busy world, these workshops will expose those people willing to seek out a place for relaxation, self-exploration, and the feeling of belonging. As we partner with local sound and art tech artists, we will develop and multi-sensory meditation space where sound, art, light and scents work together. They will receive a rare combination of meditation methods through the use of virtual reality for meditation and digital drawing in the attempt to look further into themselves.
Tactics
- Engage local sound designers and visual artists for a cohesive artistic vision.
- Conduct brainstorming sessions to align on themes and sensory elements.
- Design an immersive meditation space with adaptable sensory features.
- Include structured sessions for guided meditation, reflection, and sharing.
- Integrate VR technology to enhance the meditation experience.
- Provide digital drawing tools for creative expression.
- Promote workshops through community outreach and social media.
- Encourage participant engagement and collect feedback for continuous improvement.
