Added Strategic Priorities for 2021
= 2017 Student 2021 Strategic Priorities :=
== '''Strategy #1: Entrepreneurial students are empowered, supported, and showcased through a central networking website''' =='''Tactic 1:''' Design and develop a web-enabled platform to facilitate cross-campus engagement and community growth. This website will act as an informational board and aid student entrepreneurs and innovators in garnering the exposure and visibility they need to compete in today's market. Additionally, it offers students, faculty, and the general public a new outlet they can consult while shopping. Not only will customers receive hand-made and often tailor-made products, they are directly supporting young entrepreneurs and indirectly supporting the university.
Freshmen experience I&E during first Fall Quarter'''Projected Timeline'''
'''Tactic 1''' - Incorporate Innovation Planning and Entrepreneurship into the First Year Experience Coursemeeting with appropriate faculty and students during Fall Quarter 2021
The FYE 100 course that all freshmen take Fall Quarter is designed to provide application experiences - Implementation in communication, critical thinking, and collaboration while students engage less than 1 year pending conclusion of planning phase. Expected implementation in university culture. Incorporating innovation and entrepreneurship into the course will enhance their critical thinking and collaboration skills while also introducing them to opportunities and resources available to them on campusSpring of 2022.
Possible scenario – == '''Strategy #2: Innovation and Entrepreneurship Night open to all Louisiana Tech students involved with I&E produce lesson plan (with input from , faculty) for one day , and staff.''' =='''Tactic 1:''' Host an after-hours event at the College of Business or College of instruction in design thinking Engineering & Science to promote and encourage entrepreneurship and what LaTech has to offer for innovation . The event would be centered around the entrepreneurial spirit and entrepreneurship ambitions (Thingeryinnovative thinking. Possible facets of this event would include guest speakers, a student entrepreneur showcase to show off current entrepreneurial ventures taking place on-campus, Rawle Centerhands-on I&E activities or games, Top Dogan alumni entrepreneur testimonial panel with Q&A, student organizations)and time for networking. To make the lesson more effectiveCumulatively, stagger instruction days so that the this night would increase awareness and interest in I&E while encouraging students who produced the lesson plan can actually teach the class to embrace the freshmen, showing student leadership power in I&E critical thinking and that a community for it exists on campuscuriosity.
'''Projected timelineTimeline:'''
-        Planning and coordination with all key organizations and individuals during the 2021-2022 academic year 2017-2018
-        Trail runs in select classes Following completion of the the planning phase, implementation of this event shall be conducted during Fall 2018the Spring of 2023
== '''Strategy #3: Innovation Workshops or Optional Events/Classes for Louisiana Tech campus community''' =='''Tactic 1:''' Re-        Refine model open the Thingery at Louisiana Tech University and fully implement during Fall 2019create a list of programs to be offered to those attending or employed by Louisiana Tech University. The schedule of classes will be determined according to demand of participants. The intent of this program is to empower on-campus innovation and entrepreneurship while helping participants to cultivate new and useful skills and knowledge.
'''Tactic 2Projected Timeline:''' – Innovation and Entrepreneurship event at orientations during summer.
Most freshmen attend one of the orientation session the summer before attending to become familiar and excited about LaTech. Implementing an I&E event they attend during orientation would provide them the opportunity to know about what resources are available and spark their interest before weight of classes - The planning and other responsibilities set in during fundraising phase should conclude within the quarter.2021-2022 academic year
Possible scenario – students involved with I&E host a demonstration of design thinking in Thingery that orientation groups cycle through. Students receive crash course on - Following the design thinking processplanning and fundraising phase, they find out where the Thingery is located, implementation will commence and are given terminate when the opportunity to sign up for workshops classes begin in the school year and I&E affiliated organizations.Spring of 2023

As of now, the only way students know about things happening on campus or different organizations is at orientation and welcome week. Organizations can show off different aspects to all kinds of students, including transfer students. As a cohort, we could set up a smaller trial to test how well individuals take interest in it, then we could move on to a bigger event. One way we could incorporate I&E in the event would be encouraging professors to share something they love to teach and have a passion for. The event could apply for the Makers Fair to bring in new ideas to campus. To increase student engagement, this will be on campus and also include certain field day events. These field day events will be a pickup game and some will have an incentive for competition. Depending on excitement, this will happen once a year or once a quarter. &nbsp;</span></span>

It could incorporate all colleges and highlight popular majors. The dean of each college would be able to present information about their specific college. If a student in the program wanted to learn more information about a specific major they could ask the instructor or email after the presentation. Another way to increase student engagement is to encourage older students to talk about their specific major. Education majors are able to get volunteer hours for teaching a program to students. As for the university, short term, it will see small losses as each student finds a major faster decreasing wasted payments for classes not needed; however, long term, the university will gain more students and retain students to possibly go on to become a graduate program candidate. Over time, the program could turn into a class undecided majors take to figure out exactly what they want to get a degree in. </span></span>

Currently, the website does not have nearly all events that are happening around campus. Most of these event’s information is sent to students through their emails which get overlooked more often than not. When the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Technology sends an email about upcoming events, for example; students often never see it because they are overwhelmed with so many other events. While this is an excellent way for students to get involved in activities and groups that they really enjoy, our email system becomes really crowded with organization events and activities. By working with the Student Government Association on campus who organizes the student organizations on campus, we could work on making sure that the emails being sent are more pertinent to students and that emails are only sent for important notifications.
