Bio
Mirnaali Natanakumar is a Data Science student in her third year at Lingnan University in Hong Kong. Originally from Thanjavur, India, and raised in Hong Kong, Mirnaali has embraced a diverse cultural background that informs her studies and personal growth. She completed her secondary education at True Light Girls’ College, where she balanced her academic responsibilities with various extracurricular activities that helped her develop leadership skills.
At University, Mirnaali has been working to build a solid foundation in data science, focusing on programming, statistics, and quantitative analysis. She is passionate about learning and is eager to explore how data science can be applied to solve real-world problems. Mirnaali is particularly interested in how data analysis can support business decision-making, hoping to connect technical insights with practical applications in various fields.
In addition to her studies, Mirnaali has a deep interest in spirituality, which shapes her approach to life and learning. She values mental well-being and enjoys writing as a form of self-expression. In her free time, Mirnaali loves watching movies and series, appreciating the different stories and perspectives they offer.
Mirnaali is also enthusiastic about public speaking and acting in drama, finding joy in connecting with others through creative expression. She has participated in various events that have helped her develop her communication skills and confidence. Committed to giving back to her community, she has volunteered in activities such as flag selling and cooking for the needy. She is particularly passionate about addressing food insecurity and believes in the importance of ensuring everyone has access to healthy and safe food.
Achievements
Throughout her academic journey, Mirnaali has been fortunate to receive recognition for her efforts which includes academic honors. She was also the Champion, the Social Impact Award and Innovative Idea Award at the Social Innovation 4.0 Competition, organized by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service. This experience provided her team with the opportunity to participate in an educational trip to Taiwan, where they learned about social innovation practices.
Mirnaali has also taken on leadership roles in her extracurricular activities. She serves as President of the Toastmasters Club at Lingnan University, where she enjoys helping others improve their communication and leadership skills. Previously, she was the Chairperson of the English Society at True Light Girls' College, where she worked to promote language learning and cultural exchange.
