Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology (KNIT Sultanpur) is a state government funded, autonomous engineering and applied science institution, affiliated to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University and established in 1976. It is one of the best engineering institute of the country. AKTU of North-India is a vibrant, diverse University whose students excel in technology and are placed all over the world.
KNIT has various resources in technology rather than for I&E. Going through the fellowship training to become UIF, I had an opportunity to get out of the building and consult a large number of students and faculty members across the campus to map the landscape canvas and recognize some of the major shortcomings that need to be focused. One of my findings was that there are some resources available but students are not aware either of the resources or of the possibilities that I&E can offer them.

Strategy#1: Increase Awareness of I&E communities on the campus
Bringing awareness among multidisciplinary students about the resources:
Tactic#1: Forming a club or a group
A club or group should be formed where students can bring their ideas and broaden them by identifying the solutions for the problems urged to get solved, then implementing them to get a feasible result. This idea of refinement, taking a smaller concept and a big idea that can be applied to the problem, is a great chance to refine the open minds of students. These ideas can be applied to the real world complex problems.
I am working to establish the club successfully and and will complete my project by January'2017.
In this 21st century, almost every student shows active participation in any of the social networking sites. In order to bring awareness among multidisciplinary students across campus on the currently available resources and making it more easy to use, page on social networking sites can be built for easy access to students and to keep them updated.
Tactic#3: Motivational seminars/workshops
To cultivate the hidden talent of multidisciplinary students, motivational workshops should take place organising a competition or such events on moving towards the end of the session. These workshops would also provide the direction to students who found themselves struggling to decide what they are going to do after graduation, where they are going to work and what do they actually want to do.
For the seminars , I am contacting with the good motivators who can come up in our college and boost up the interest of students and I will try to have the seminars by February'2017, so that more students should come up to be a part of it.
Tactic#4: Introduce I&E concepts in introduction to Engineering classes
All the new-coming students are lectured the various engineering subjects related to technology. Subjects dealing with the concepts of innovation & entrepreneurship should be introduced to groom the student from the first year to proceed towards I&E. These courses can be project-based, teaching students about engineering disciplines and also enhance their creative as well as design thinking approaches.
Strategy#2: Expansion of the contact with industries
Collaboration of the University and the Industry is limited to research and technology without any exposure to I&E. This can be expanded by promoting awareness dealing with the importance of I&E industry. Students and faculty members both should be motivated to join training/internship under I&E industries. There should be some regular visits to those places.
