<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="text-align: justify;">The need identified in this "How To" is to engage first year students in design thinking. A popular topic in the UIF exploration of higher education is the incorporation of design thinking; which when incorporated into curriculum is highly beneficial.Through this article we discuss how to engage first year students in design thinking with advice from current fellow, Krusha Shah. She is from Bartlett, IL (northwest suburb of Chicago) and attends Saint Louis University. She also helps students through the challenges of their first year study with study tips, creating assignments. In other words, she did her best to help them figure engineering out and ensure that this is the correct area of study for them.</span></span></span></p>
== Objectives ==
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">&nbsp;Design thinking is frequently leveraged as a tool for solving problem, it is need to have design thinking for freshers and there is a quote "Tall trees will grow on a Solid foundation". I</span></span><span style="color: rgb(38, 50, 56); font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">mplementing design thinking for freshmen will have a significant impact and make young minds to have greater ideas&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">. The efficiency of the team’s project work will increase the overall quality of life. The students really resonated with the idea of human-centeredness and how empathy could be carried through the distinct stages of the process. &nbsp;Freshmen must stick together. They’re going out with people who you don’t know and you’re just meeting more along the way. Everyone is super friendly in general and that’s a great vibe. The fellows are tasked with identifying a need in their community, creating and testing solutions just the kind of project that can use a little creativity! And it will work through the projects by teaching them some methods, mindsets and skills of design thinking.</span></span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></p>
== Goals ==
*<span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">To recognize and apply diverse ways of thinking</span></span>
*<span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">To become more effective in their use of diverse ways of thinking.</span></span>

== Why Design thinking? ==
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:small;">&nbsp;<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; text-align: justify;">So many times, we get together to solve a problem and nothing is accomplished—it’s frustrating. Sadly, many approaches to solving business challenges are misaligned for assorted reasons pick your poison. Innovative, business changing ideas can be fleeting at times, but that’s the gist of what design thinking helps address.Design thinking is a proven and repeatable problem-solving protocol that any business or profession can employ to achieve big results. Design thinking combines creative and critical thinking that allows information and ideas to be organized, decisions to be made, situations to be improved, and knowledge to be gained. It’s a mindset focused on solutions and not the problem.</span></span></p>

If the event planned during class times, seeking permission will be greater task. Putting yourself in their shoes and letting them know about inputs and outputs will make them to participate</span></span></span></div>
<span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">&nbsp;</span></span>

== Academic Permissions ==
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">&nbsp;Academic permission are to be taken from the management to make design thinking course as a part of curriculum so that every student can imbibe design thinking skills and knowledge ever since from the very first year this helps students to reshape themselves in order to achieve this we need a strong recommendation and support from faculty and management if we can achieve this that will act as our first success in introducing design thinking to fresher’s.</span></span></div>
== <span style="font-size:x-large;"><font face="verdana, geneva, sans-serif">Support</font></span> ==
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); white-space: pre-wrap;">A strong support is needed from people to accomplish a task but it is hardest one to achieve because we cannot get support from all the people there are different categories of people in an university we trainers have to convince them by expressing how design thinking have true impact on students different categories in campus are:</span></span></span></p>
=== <span style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial; font-size: 12pt; font-style: italic; font-weight: 700; white-space: pre-wrap; text-align: justify;">1. Students Support</span> ===
<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span id="docs-internal-guid-962c4de5-6497-d38b-b733-398248b58df4"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">If there are no trainees this task cannot be accomplished so students support is the most vital thing trainer need to be achieved they are the primary participants trainer gains confidence from the type of audience they get. So, we have to attract students by attractive posters and fun filled promotions.</span></span></span></span></p>

=== <span id="docs-internal-guid-962c4de5-6497-d38b-b733-398248b58df4"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-weight: 700; font-style: italic; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">2. Faculty Support</span></span> ===
<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span id="docs-internal-guid-962c4de5-6497-d38b-b733-398248b58df4"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Faculty support is needed because faculty express or teach &nbsp;the lectures with more impact if faculty involves work will be divided so that trainers work will be reduced</span></span></span></span></p>
== Management ==
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:small;">&nbsp;<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;">Management should grant permission for allocation of rooms or seminar halls to conduct events and to provide required accessories and allotting faculty can be done only through the administrators or management</span></span></p>
<span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">&nbsp;</span></span>

== Space ==
<span style="font-size:small;">&nbsp;<span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;">For any workshops, you conduct we should find space in campus that will accommodate people and other needs like mobiles, white boards, chairs, desks etc., and take permissions to use all these from authorities in our campus.</span></span>
