Engaging with regional and local economic development efforts: </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The mission of the Patuxent Environmental & Aquatic Research Laboratory (PEARL) is to provide society with the knowledge to solve its environmental challenges through research, education and economic development. This is the biggest partnership Morgan (since 2004) has that focuses on bettering the community by research and findings based on the community needs. It is located near the Patuxent River in Saint Leonard, Maryland. The laboratory capabilities include Benthic, Pelagic & Nearshore Monitoring, Water Quality Monitoring, Power Plant & Industrial Compliance, Hyperspectral Remote Sensing, GIS in Coastal Waters, Quantitative Analysis & Modeling, Natural Resource Economics, and Population and Community Ecology. We need to ensure the lab is being utilized at its fullest potential and if there is needs for improvement, we need to gather funds from sponsors to help the community grow.</span></span>

Most students are unaware of the opportunities available to have a successful career and be involved with their school. Students don’t know what they are missing, and this develops into a feeling that there are NO opportunities available to be active and involved in campus. We need to create a new channel that shares opportunities and events maximizes the people it reaches around campus. This will make students on campus active and involved overall</span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; background-color: transparent;">in the I&E movement on campus.</span>

Our vision is to create at a lab room where students can come and collaborate on ideas, work on projects, fabricate ideas. Providing a lab room will help students who don’t have access to equipment or materials, and also help them build on ideas or projects which will encourage innovation. Potentially students could actually develop something they could market which would help students get familiar with entrepreneurship. This lab will lay the foundation for innovations and test the ingenious of those willing to market their idea.</span></span>
