Jahannie Torres is a fourth year student at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in [[File:JahannieT.jpg|thumb|JahannieT.jpg]]Computer Engineering with focus on software and a minor in Business Development. She was born and raised on Puerto Rico.
She had the opportunity of applying her knowledge in different industries such as insurance, banking and plastics. Since she is always looking for learning new things she has been involved on undergraduates researches about educational videogames and entrepreneurial mindset. She realized that she wants to contribute to the development of her country and the improvement of education through technology. She created the Solidarity Scholarship that aims to help students from disadvantaged communities, like her community. As part of her goals of impacting communities, she co founded the organization Starting Point,Inc that is the one in charge of the first Makerspace of her university.
