Tomo, is a University Innovation Fellowstubborn optimist, perpetual tinkerer, and amateur permaculturist, passionate about empowering otherswith a deep curiosity towards the world of pottery, whose future lies in designing innovative and impactful learning experiencesa love for baking. He has pursued In the human world, he is an interdisciplinary educationinnovation strategist, studying Anthropologydesigner and educator, Design Thinking, Political Scienceworking at the intersection of technology, and Business at various educational institutionsorganizational strategy. Having grown up in Japan, Germany, He is passionate about harnessing design and education to empower individuals and Scotland, Tomo brings a multicultural perspective teams to his work, embracing diverse viewpointsmaximize their growth and entrepreneurial potential.
Tomo's diverse interests span Japanese cultureCurrently, innovation, marine science, mental healthhe designs and coordinates programs at U-Tokyo DLX Design Lab, is part of the teaching team at IDEO U and creativity, seamlessly blending them to inspire runs his design approachown consulting business. He has co-founded multiple organizationsis also partner at Vireo Lab, initiated projects addressing gender a venture and environmental challengestech studio. Tomo holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Sophia University in Tokyo, and successfully led teams of over 30 individuals. As was a University Innovation Fellow and as an alumnus and coach of the HPI School at Hasso Plattner Institute of Design Thinking in Potsdam, he at Stanford University and has also coached product and studied design teams around at the globeHasso-Plattner-Institute in Germany.
In 2021, Tomo launched His UIF project - RISE, was a pioneering project initiative that delivered self-empowerment and leadership workshops in a roadtrip format to over 250 + middle and high school students across Japan. He now operates works out of his own consulting business, specializing in strategy and design for clients in industries such as mobility, manufacturing, two homes - Berlin and educationTokyo.
Currently, Tomo serves as Experience Design Lead at AstraZeneca Japan, where he spearheads patient-centricity in healthcare innovation.
