Prior to his time at SIU Carbondale, Jake graduated from the University of Mississippi where he studied Managerial Finance and Marketing. At the University of Mississippi, Jake was a member of the Ole Miss Rebels Men's basketball team and was named to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) academic honor roll. He was also member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and student ambassador for the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Jake attended Three Rivers Community College for the first two years of his college career, where he was co-a captain of a the Three Rivers Raiders Men's basketball team that was ranked as high as #11 in country in 2014-2015. He played under Gene Bess, the all-time winningest coach in college basketball history (1300 wins).<div><div>
