 Promoting Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship

We have different centers of excellence in our college which promotes students innovation and entreprenuership.

Some of them are

 Assistive Technology Lab

Assistive Technology Lab works for a very unique and a noble cause of designing projects by the students of SVECW to benefit the differently-abled. This is a small but definite step to mainstream people with disabilities into society. Professor Alan Rux , founder of the Assistive Technology Program at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, USA, visits SVECW every year in the month of July and guides students in developing projects related to Assistive Technology.

ATL provides a rich, authentic learning experience for students. It is a real time platform for the students to learn and experience engineering design process, to apply their academic skills in a real-world context, and to develop important workplace skills not usually taught in the classroom. Each project team has to brainstorm and analyze alternative design solutions, and justify their chosen design; they must work within a budget, analyze the cost of various design alternatives, and in the end, make a presentation outlining their design work and final solution.

 Texas Instruments Lab

Texas Instruments Digital Signal Processing Lab is set up in our college in the month of January, 2012. Quite a good number of activities are going on in this lab with the involvement of both faculty and students. We have conducted two training programs for the students and the kits provided by them are later used to teach a course work for Third Year B. Tech ECE students. The projects that are taken up in the lab are listed below: *Artificial Hand Gripper using Bluetooth Technology *RFID Based Door Opening and Closing System *Voice Activated Dental Chair *Speech Compression and Water Marking of speech using Heterogeneous Platforms *Implementation of Super Resolution Algorithms for Medical Imaging Among the five projects listed above, the first three projects are the UG projects and are submitted for TI India Analog Design Contest 2011 and the remaining two projects are the projects taken up by the Post Graduate students.

As a part of the contest the students made maximum utilization of TI support, documentation material and the forums to solve their issues. This exposure really made the students to learn more than what they learn from their text books.
The two PG projects were completed  and the students are learning to work with medical imaging and heterogeneous platforms. The listed UG projects are submitted for TI India Analog Design Contest 2013

  • Intelligent home security system
  • Pattern identification & calculation training system for students with autism(PICTS)
  • System for monitoring drowsiness using eye movement As a part of the contest the students were received approximately $200 cost of equipment. The students made maximum utilization of TI support, documentation material and the forums to solve their issues. This exposure really made the students to learn more than what they are learning from their text books.
The first two batches were selected for a consolation prize of Rs. 10,000/- and they presented a paper in TIIEC -2013. The third batch was selected for a poster presentation in TIIEC – 2013.

 Faculty Innovation and Entrepreneurship

 Faculty Research Publications

The faculty of SVECW covers diverse area of Engineering and Basic Sciences. World has been changing continuously with technological advancements and applications. SVECW aims to match with global technological developments. Different disciplines are working hard on various assignments and projects with main emphasis on practical applications and exploring fundamentals. Cross-disciplinary research of the faculty members is one of the major contributing factors on the part of the institution. Engaging with Regional and Local Economic Development Efforts

National Service Scheme

National integrity should flow from the heart of every citizen. Apart from academics, every student must involve in serving her country. National Service Scheme (NSS) has been introduced as a part of the academic programs since the establishment of SVECW.  NSS has been functioning as a regular feature in the realm of our Institution. NSS has enriched the students’ souls and mind. The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is that it is organized by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building. The overall objective of this scheme is Education and Service to the community and by the community. It’s student's program where we cater to the need of the community, as and when required, It will also help the students to communicate with the society. Students develop many skills and learn how to behave and interact with different kinds of people. The students go to the rural areas and try to develop a Technocratic Environment and help the underprivileged people to develop themselves.

Knowledge Center

This nodal center for excellence in school education was started in December 2006 and inaugurated by Dr. T. Subba Rami Reddy - Union Minister of State for Mines at Dr. B. V. Raju's native village, Kumudavalli, which is 5 kms away from the town of Bhimavaram. In continuance to the legacy of social responsibility the Chairman, Sri. K. V. Vishnu Raju, transformed the ancestral house of the founder Chairman into a Knowledge Centre with an aspiration to provide quality primary education to children from rural schools where infrastructural and laboratory facilities are not available. The Knowledge Centre has the capacity to accommodate 120 students and is equipped with physics, chemistry, biology and computer laboratories to facilitate students from VI to X classes to gain knowledge through first hand experimentation. Apart from this, the Knowledge centre has a well stocked library, computers with internet facility, LCD Projectors and teaching audio-visual aids, scientific equipment and models, and CDs of related subjects for classes from VI to X standard. The teaching program is planned to cover all the zilla parishad schools located within 15 kms radius from the Knowledge Centre. Through this program, the Centre is providing quality education to these students free of cost. The students from each of these schools attend the Knowledge Centre and get experimental training in their respective subjects. The Knowledge Centre is providing free transportation to all these children. Every year 10000 students from 24 schools are utilizing this facility. Salient Features of the Knowledge Centre at Kumudavalli Village: Seminar Hall with audio-visual teaching aids. State-of-the-art computer Lab. Well equipped Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences Laboratories Modern Library Transport Facility between schools and the centre Our students are deputed to the Knowledge Centre to give training to the students.
