Introduction

Creating a society of entrepreneurship and innovation on a college campus starts with a few people who have ideas and who want to share their ideas. An entrepreneurship society has many functions. Inspiring creativity, pushing beyond the ordinary, and nurturing an environment of entrepreneurial and innovative thinking are some of the key functions that e-societies can accomplish. Beginning with a few people that have a vision who can then go create a spark in others to have big ideas leads to a path of progressive change and improvement on campus and in the community.

A Spark in the Woods

  • An individual with an “I believe I can change the world” attitude needs to act as a catalyst to start an innovative and entrepreneurial culture in one’s community or university.
  • Finding a problem in the community, campus, or world is a great place to start if you are passionate and want to create change through innovation.

Spreading the Entrepreneurial Firestorm

  • Talk to people! Excite 5-6 people around you who are interested in the innovative lifestyle.
  • Bring them to the realization that an innovative culture is important.
  • Inspire the idea that social issues can be solved through finding new opportunities to improve the status quo.

Slowly but Surely the Flames Will Grow

  • Start talking to people who really don’t know how important entrepreneurship and how it can relate to the betterment of society is or do not know what entrepreneurship is.
  • Inspire others to have ideas and share them. Help them develop the mindset that having big ideas about big problems is a good thing. Entrepreneurship means finding an opportunity for change and improvement.
  • Don't be deterred. Not everyone will want to be apart of the culture. In due time…
  • Involve the community. Look for resources within your community to help you.
  • Existing NGOs and charities can assist you with your efforts.

Raise the Sirens

  • Excite your peers, get the crowds talking about the coming change. Let them know why it is important.
  • Create press releases, social media, and spread awareness of your cause

Utilize the Path the Flames have Blazed

  • You have spread word and now you need to spread ideas.
  • If you don’t have the solution, someone else may have it. Utilize the path (The Minds of Others) that has been created and paved.
  • Share your ideas. If not now, when? If not you, who?

Let the Sparks Fly

  • Always encourage branching out. Minds will wander; connections will be made and new paths will be blazed if they have been encouraged to develop the entrepreneurial mind set.
  • Encourage the continual asking of questions and continual improvement upon your ideas.
  • "The world is a malleable and changeable place to innovate your way out of problems.”
