Fellow:Kayla Lett
Kayla Lett is an undergraduate student at Grand Valley State University. She is majoring in Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering and pursuing a minor in both math and buisness. She is involved in Social Innovation Club and Society of Women Engineers at Grand Valley. She enjoys rock climbing, working with animals, and participating in theater during her free time.
She has found a passion for developing programs and products to help better the community. This passion lead her to take a course surrounding Design Thinking her freshman year of college.This course opened the door to many opportunities for her including the opportunity to join Univerity Innovation Fellows.
Outside of school she has worked at a horse camp geared toward preschool aged children for 4 years and enjoys helping them develop social skills, learn to ride horses and explore the world around them. She had the opportunity to work at GVSU's STEPS camp, a program that encourages girls to get involved in the STEM field and learn various aspects of engineering. She has been involved in the youth sector of her local Rotary club and has used these connections to complete several local and global aid projects including fundraising for cancer treatments and bringing clean water to the people of Haiti.
She enjoys traveling and being emersed in different cultures around the world. She has spent a month in Israel, as well as traveled to Amsterdam, Iceland and Costa Rica.
