Vibeke Rivet grew up in Ludington, Michigan and attended Ludington High School, where she developed a strong interest in STEM subjects. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Central Michigan University. She is also working towards a minor in Mathematics and a certificate in the Integration of Science, Technology, and Engineering (InSciTE).

Vibeke has gained substantial professional experience through various internships and co-op positions. In 2022, she experienced her first engineering workplace as an Intern at Occidental Chemical Corporation in Ludington, Michigan. During this role, Vibeke led a significant digitization project involving over 10,000 engineering documents and collaborated with engineers to enhance data management processes.

In 2023, Vibeke joined Appvion Operations Inc. as a Thermal Research and Development Engineering Co-op. She contributed to a coating reformulation project that resulted in substantial cost savings and led multiple profit improvement projects. Her role also involved extensive testing of new production assets.

Vibeke's experience continued with a role at Wolfspeed as a SiC Epitaxy Equipment Engineering Intern in 2024. She worked on creating a comprehensive database for machine data and developed strategies to improve the efficiency of Epitaxy reactors.

In addition to her professional work, Vibeke is actively involved in campus and community organizations. She has been a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) since September 2022 and currently serves as the President for the 2024-25 term, having previously held the position of Professional Development Chair for the 2023-24 term. In this role, Vibeke organizes meetings, assists with conference planning, and manages recruitment and budgeting strategies.

Vibeke is also a volunteer Robot Inspector for FIRST Robotics, where she uses her extensive experience to ensure compliance with manufacturing rules and support teams during competitions.

Vibeke's technical expertise includes proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and software tools including Siemens NX and MATLAB. She is also skilled in scanning electron microscopy and rheology, and has knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL).

In her personal life, Vibeke enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking, and watching NFL football, particularly as a fan of the Buffalo Bills. She resides in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, where she is focused on her studies and professional development. She is known for her commitment to advancing her knowledge in mechanical engineering and her active participation in engineering and robotics communities.

Achievements

Vibeke is a recipient of the Centralis Gold Scholarship and is a member of the Central Michigan University's Honors College.
