Trevor B. Nicks is currently a graduate student at Tufts University, pursuing a Ph.D. in Biotechnology Engineering. His research is at the intersection of Cell-Free Metabolic Engineering, Directed Evolution, and Protein Engineering. He graduated from William Jewell College in May 2017 with Honors in Biochemistry, Applied Critical Thought & Inquiry, and a minor in Business Administration. Trevor is

passionate about public education equality, innovation in green energy, biotechnology, entrepreneurship, and queer rights.

            As an undergrad, Trevor co-founded a biotech startup (spirainc.com), published a paper on nanoarchaeal evolution (doi: 10.3389/fmicb.2017.00384), and studied alternative biofuel sources. His primary UIF initiatives included co-directing #OneDayKC, bringing Harvard's CS50 to Jewell, and serving as a student-advisor on Jewell's data science committee.
