Nicholas Fong

University Innovation Candidate, NCIIA

Nicholas is a fourth year senior studying for his B.A. in Economics with an emphasis in Strategy and Finance and a minor in Management at the University of California, Merced. He currently works for the E&J Gallo Management Program as a grader for two corporate finance courses as well as the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) as a finance intern. CITRIS works to commercialize research performed in the non-competitive atmosphere of academia and shortens the gap between groundbreaking research and business. He is also a team leader for KivaGreen, a project under the Foster Family Center for Engineering Service Learning. KivaGreen is developing a sustainable assessment tool for a subsidiary of Kiva, KivaZip, and also functions as a trustee. Outside of academia and schoolwork, he also participates in various club organizations on campus including the newly founded Investment Club, Students For Liberty, among others. He is intensely interested in entrepreneurship’s power to encourage technological breakthroughs and is eager to explore new ways to solve the old, “hard” problems of our society today. Nicholas hopes to use skills learned from the University Innovation Fellowship to harness the creative energy already present at UC Merced and create a constant entrepreneurial presence on campus.
