Bio
As a MHSc Candidate in Translational Research at the University of Toronto, Mikhail Lobo is committed to bridging the gap between academic research and real-world healthcare innovations. With a background in Global Health and a passion for human-centered design, Mikhail has actively contributed to initiatives that promote innovation and community health. His experience includes leading design research projects at the University of Toronto’s Innovation Hub, where he employed empathy-based interviews and qualitative data analysis to drive strategic decisions that improve student experiences.
Mikhail is also a Program Facilitator for the African Impact Challenge, where he has guided health entrepreneurs through the design thinking process, helping them create user-centric solutions that address critical local needs. His leadership extends to his role as a volunteer with COVID-19 Resources Canada, where he orchestrated focus groups to assess the impact of the pandemic on diverse populations, particularly the elderly and those with accessibility needs.
Driven by a deep commitment to addressing health inequities, Mikhail is eager to bring his strategic thinking and action-oriented mindset to the University Innovation Fellows program. He is dedicated to inspiring his peers, fostering a culture of innovation on campus, and making a lasting impact through creative problem-solving and collaboration.

- Desjardin Cooperathon Alpha Pitch Competition (Top 10 in Canada) - TECHNATION Sports Innovation Student Challenge (3rd place in Canada). - Dragon Boat: Canadian American Champion (1st Place)
