Bio

Jeremy Vickers serves as the Associate Vice President of Innovation & Economic Development, having previously served as AVP, External Affairs at Baylor University for five years. In this role, he leads Externals Affairs and Community Relations while working to build a university-wide innovation and entrepreneurship initiative. Jeremy previously served Dallas Baptist University as Dean of the College of Professional Studies where he led efforts to expand and grow the mission of DBU by serving adults and working professionals across North Texas through innovative online, hybrid, and in person degrees and programs. Jeremy also worked with the University of Texas at Dallas as Executive Director of the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship where he led a team focused on cross campus startup activity and entrepreneurship curriculum. During his time there, he created more than a dozen programs to support student entrepreneurship and raised nearly two million dollars for programs, endowment, and a student seed investment fund. Prior to UTD, Jeremy was at the Dallas Regional Chamber as the Vice President of Innovation where he led strategy and program implementation to support building the North Texas innovation ecosystem. His efforts were to support university research growth, technology commercialization, startup resource support, and startup capital access. Also, during this time, he was involved in building the DFW startup ecosystem in the launch of the Dallas Entrepreneur Center as a Co-Founder, the Texas Research Alliance, DallasInnovates.com and InnovateDFW, now launchdfw.com. Before joining the Dallas Regional Chamber, Jeremy co-founded the Texas Institute for Sustainable Technology. The Texas Institute focused on leveraging North Texas based research university capabilities to attract grants and consulting in Smart Grid and Cyber Security applications. Prior to the Texas Institute, Jeremy was the Director of Commercialization at the North Texas RCIC where he coached and mentors nearly one thousand startups in raising angel and venture capital. Jeremy received his Bachelor’s at Baylor University and Master’s at SMU’s Cox School of Business. In addition, he received his Ph.D. in Public Affairs at UT Dallas. Jeremy lives in Waco, TX with his wife, Dr. Jackie Vickers, and four children.
