Derek Feehrer is a sophomore Computer Science major at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is also pursuing a minor in Entrepreneurship.

He is passionate about new technology — both software and hardware — and how it can be applied to solve the problems of today's society. One of his biggest undertakings thus far has been working with 3 other students to create a virtual chemistry simulation app, Tactillium, which aims to supplement traditional chemistry education with interactive learning. The app won first place in the Verizon Innovative App Challenge. Derek is also passionate about digital media, especially DSLR film-making and visual effects. He loves using video as a communication tool and has produced videos for countless events, nonprofits, ventures, businesses and local film festivals. He spent his past summer as an intern at Pixability, a Series-C startup out of Boston's North End which is applying big data technology to the world of digital media. On campus, Derek is helping to found the WPI Test Kitchen, an incubator which aims to connects students to faculty and alumni and provide them with the resources needed to take their ideas to the next level. Beginning in March, he will spend 5 months studying abroad in Germany at the Konstanz University of Applied Sciences. In his spare time, Derek is an avid outdoor adventurer. He enjoys rock climbing, backpacking and skiing.
