Bio

My name is Britnee McCauley. I currently reside in Maryland, but was born in Plainfield, Illinois. While in Illinois, I earned my associate's degree in Business Administration at Joliet Junior College. In 2020, right before the pandemic struck, I moved to Maryland and started attending Bowie State University. In May 2022, I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Then in May 2024, I completed my Master’s degree in Business Administration, also at BSU. I developed a passion for business at an early age since I was surrounded by my family's owned alarm service company growing up. A goal of mine is to help make a difference in education by teaching business skills to the younger generations.

One of the things that I have realized is if I would have stayed in Illinois I would have been limited to the resources of my environment. I currently work in the federal government, which would have been an opportunity that I may not have received if I didn’t relocate. Also, by attending a HBCU I was able to dive deeper into my culture and had many doors that opened up.

Not to mention, I am so happy that by attending BSU I had the opportunity to join the University Innovation Fellows Program in 2021. I had the pleasure of returning as a FAB in 2022 & 2023, a UIguide in 2023 and now again in 2024.

As a fellow, my team and I worked on getting our campus to improve the way notifications for events were sent out on the school website and relaunch the BSU app. We also proposed 2 other projects, which was a student commuter lounge and a childcare center on campus. All 3 of our projects had made progress or were successful.

Achievements

University Innovation Fellows Program: UIguide for 2023 & 2024, FAB in 2022 & 2023, and became a fellow in 2021.

Recognized by and apart of the 2022 White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Historically Black Colleges and Universities

-An achievement was being one of ten recipients to receive the HBCU S.O.A.R scholarship presented by Coca Cola Consolidated. The company provided an all expenses paid trip for me to go to their headquarters for a week to work on a case study to figure out how they could increase e-commerce sales. I was able to share my ideas along with my team, in front a panel of executives. At the end of the presentation we received a program completion certificate.

Another achievement of mine is that I wrote a chapter in a Technical Communication and Report Writing course book. The book gives insight on black traditions and practices, as well as step-by-step written instructions and optional videos on how to do the discussed methods for various actions.

In April 2020, I was a finalist in the International Agility for Entrepreneurship. This was a case study competition to help a startup based in Germany called Migrapreneur come up with ideas on how to make an app they were developing successful. I received a certificate at the end of the weeklong program.

Completed a Pathways Internship at this Department of Homeland Security then worked full-time as a Human Resources Assistant (2020-2024).

In April 2024, I began a new job as a Human Resources Specialist at the Department of State.
