Aisha Thaj is a 2019 University Fellow Candidate from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She is currently studying Product Design as her major, with Mathematics, Entrepreneurship, and Spanish as her minors. She grew up in the Kalamazoo area, and currently works on campus in the Virtual Reality Development Studio. When she’s not in class or at work, Aisha really enjoys spending time with friends and being outside. If she’s not doing any of those, then she’s definitely curled up on the couch with a good book, her colorful pet bird (Mango), and a chai latte.

In Aisha’s time at WMU, she’s been active in multiple student organizations and volunteer groups. As a WMU Medallion and Rotary Scholarship recipient, she is passionate about good leadership and giving back to the community. Currently, she’s working on writing a proposal to WMU’s Student Sustainability Grant with her school’s chapter of Industrial Designers Society of America. She is looking forward to utilizing her skills and ideas to continue to push herself with the strategies her UIF group comes up with this year! On her campus, she particularly wants to take a look at how students can better collaborate across disciplines.
