Ava Carefoot is a University Innovation Fellow and an undergraduate student studying Electrical Engineering while getting a minor in Physics at the University of St. Thomas (UST). Her focuses include Signals & Systems and Biomedical Materials. Ava is originally from Scottsdale, Arizona and is also a dual citizen of both Canada and America. In Arizona, Ava found her love for math and physicsand decided electrical engineering would be a great degree to study in order to attain her career goals.

At the University of St. Thomas, Ava is a member of the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving team. In addition to swimming competitively, she is also an active member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Sustainability Club. Being apart of SWE has made her realize all the great things about being a woman in STEM. Thus,, she is focused on creating a program where young girls can learn more about STEM fields.

From a very young age, Ava has been focused on helping the community around her. In 2015, Ava joined the National Charity League (NCL). While being apart of NCL she grew to love volunteering at Mom's Pantry, a food bank where people could visit and leave with bags of groceries. Due to this experience, Ava hopes to continue to help and enrich the community throughout her life.
