Mara is a University Innovation Fellow in the spring 2016 cohort, and a freshman at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She is currently working toward a degree in business management with a minor in sustainability. Mara developed her interest in entrepreneurship and innovation during her senior year of high school when she was heavily involved in the nationwide CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) class. During her year with CEO, she realized the need for a better education system that allows students to discover their full potentials. At Southern Illinois University Mara is involved with the Saluki Entrepreneur Corps and helps manage their social media platforms. She also helped coordinate MakeSI , a campus wide make-a-thon. As a fellow, Mara hopes to connect students from all disciplines and instill the importance of social innovation and entrepreneurship across campus. In her spare time, you can find Mara camping and rock climbing in one of Southern Illinois’ natural wonders, the Shawnee National Forrest.
