Project 1 - Design Thinking Workshop for HKBU community
Project Introduction
We would like to organize an engaging Design Thinking Workshop tailored specifically for the HKBU community! This workshop is designed to empower students and professors alike to embrace innovation, build confidence, and tackle real-world challenges in mental health and social innovation.
Through this hands-on experience, participants will dive into the five stages of Design Thinking—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—while focusing on creative solutions for the well-being of our community. You’ll work collaboratively in small teams to explore pressing mental health issues, design user-centered solutions, and apply innovative strategies that can make a lasting social impact.
Whether the participants are new to Design Thinking or already familiar with its concepts, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding, develop new skills, and explore interdisciplinary approaches to addressing societal challenges. By the end of the session, they will have gained not only practical tools for problem-solving but also the confidence to implement their ideas within the HKBU community and beyond.
Tactics
- Promote the mindset of design thinking to the school community
- Promote social innovation to HKBU students
- Implement the project via workshops
- Try to reach out to several I&E courses in General Education
Project 2 - Animal Therapy for HKBU community
Project Introduction
Animal therapy, also known as animal-assisted therapy (AAT), involves interactions between patients and trained animals to promote emotional, social, and cognitive well-being. Animals can provide companionship, reducing feelings of loneliness and anxiety. Besides, interacting with animals can lower cortisol levels and increase serotonin, promoting relaxation.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of university life? Animal therapy might be just what you need! Interacting with therapy animals has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness, making it a fantastic way to enhance your mental well-being. Imagine spending time with a friendly dog or cuddling a calming cat while taking a break from studying or navigating campus life. These furry companions provide comfort, encourage mindfulness, and create a supportive atmosphere. Join us for upcoming events where you can connect with therapy animals and discover the positive impact they can have on your emotional health. Don’t miss this opportunity to unwind and recharge with the help of some amazing four-legged friends!
Tactics
- Provide animal therapy to HKBU students and staff.
- Collaborate with HKAATA (Hong Kong Animal Assisted Therapy Association).
- Implement the project via workshops.
- An opportunity for the organisation to be exposed to the HKBU community.
