soil amendment or mulch in small-scale agriculture. The goal was to innovate the local food system by taking a waste product from a local business and recycling this product to increase local food production. Courtney is also involved in BrightSide Produce, which is the nation's only financially sustainable business plan for supplying fresh and affordable produce in food desert areas. Being a part of BrightSide is what sparked Courtney's interest in innovation and entrepreneurship. In the future, Courtney plans on attending graduate school and pursuing a career in academia.
