I was born in D.C. but raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. My passion and curiosity are what brought me to study Electrical and Computer engineering. I am also excited to see what growth this UIF program will enrich me with to help me grasp a better understanding of what a leader is. My academic interest includes nanoscience, nanotechnology, semiconductor applications, and embedded systems. My interest outside of school is manga, anime, and music
This last summer I had the opportunity to conduct research at Howard university. This opened my eyes to innovations because I remember during my midterm presentation a student asked me a question that I couldn’t answer. Thus, later that day I and my PI sat down and thought about the questioned that was asked and how it relates to the next steps of the project. At that moment, it really dawned on me …. WOW! no one has done this before and no one has the answer we are to make the answer. That type of work excites me because we can learn and introduce something new into the world that would benefit mankind.
I believe that being in the field of innovation will enable me to be in a state of constant learning which is my main reason for involving myself into electrical and computer engineering. To fuel my curiosity and be a part of the evolving technology. Also with my career as anR&D engineer, it would give me more of a connection with students in the aspect in where theory is constantly being used and exploited to solve an existing problem. Being in the school of engineering for the first time there was a multitude of different companies that come for recruiting. So far I have seen consulting jobs, design and test, and research institutions. It was the representatives from the Sandia National Laboratories that attracted me to that field of work. An employee from there who previously worked at Google compared the two places as in working in Google he felt as though his work didn’t make much meaning he didn’t see where his solutions were being applied, but at Sandia he immediately saw the use of his solutions being utilized. That is a fulfilling feeling to be a part of the US and the world using one’s expertise to help solve serious problems that arise.
