Indiegogo charges a fee for fundraising campaigns that are done on its platform, currently 4 percent of fundraised amount if your fundraising goal is met or 9 percent of the fundraised amount if your goal is not met. Other costs that arise include 3 percent third party processing fees and $ 25 for international wire transfer fees.
This platform is a great resource for entreorenuers who have a solid idea and are ready to venture forth.
Purpose: Indiegogo exists to help those who need to raise funds for enteprises, projects or social causes.
Distinct Difference: unlike many other resources, Indiegogo is a funding platform, crowd funding. It accepts any fundraiser on its platform not just those directly geered towards entreprenuership and innovation. Its accessibility and use is as easy as setting up your fundraising campaign on its platform although your campaign's success will mostly rely on spreading the word.
Impact: Some campaigns have been able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars on the platform. These campaigns have included product designs such as a salt shooting shortgun to kill flies, disaster recovery effort such as the rebuilding of Joplin Mosquein Joplin Missouri following a fire.
