My name is D'Yon Padgett. I'm a University Innovation Fellow and an undergraduate student studying Entrepreneurship and Communication minor at Central Michigan University (CMU). My focuses include Entrepreneurship and studying communications. I’m from Ypsilanti, MI, where I’m originally from. I lived there my whole life until 2018 when I moved to Mount Pleasant, MI for college at Central Michigan University. After exploring Central I loved the school and the atmosphere at Central. This summer 2021 I was provided the opportunity to be a part of the University Innovation Fellows.

At Central Michigan University, I’m involved with the College of Business Administration University Innovation Fellowship program and Collective Mentor program at Central Michigan University. In addition, I’m a Collective Mentor at Central Michigan University mentoring incoming freshmen attending college to help whether it’s asking for advice and forming relationships to help assist when the mentees need assistance. In my spare time I’m a figure skating coach. I coach children and adults, and I completed an internship this summer 2021 virtually in Cape Town, South Africa.

From a young age, I have been a figure skater since the age of five years old. Ice skating has been my passion for fifteen years. I have competed in ice skating competitions at a young age. In 2021 I became a recipient of the Feight Family Business Scholarship, an award funded by Keith and Kurt Feight. I’m passionate about entrepreneurship, working on innovative ideas and collaborating with others to bring creative ideas to life. On my campus, I’m interested in expanding the necessary tools I have learned in this program to bring to students what I have learned about entrepreneurship and the UIF program to students to help with fundamentals.
