Mary McGee became a UIF in fall 2016 at Southern Illinois University. During her time there, she was able to create a resource guide for first-generation college students. Mary also worked with and mentored the 2018 cohort of UIFs at SIU. Mary graduated in May 2019 with a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. Throughout her time at SIU, Mary discovered her love for mentoring and supporting college students, which led to her pursuing a master's degree at Colorado State University studying Student Affairs in Higher Education (expected May 2021). Mary is currently working with UIFs at CSU to create a mentorship program that better supports first and second-year students. Mary is passionate about social justice, most specifically equity and inclusion. Once she graduates with her master's, Mary hopes to continue working as a student affairs professional to change and improve the higher education system while creating inclusive environments that support students with marginalized identities.
