<span id="docs-internal-guid-f9be31cd-7fff-b8bd-c5dc-ba45e98344e4"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Savannah Redfern is a University Innovation Fellow from the Fall 2019 cohort. She is a junior at Wichita State University’s Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors college studying psychology with a minor in biology and pursuing a certificate in Spanish translation. Redfern plans of receiving a Masters of Counseling after undergraduate school and then going on to receive her PhD in psychology. She hopes to become a clinical psychologist as well as teach and do research in the field. With her Spanish translation certificate, she will also be able to broaden her clientele to work with Spanish-speaking people. During the summer of 2019, Savannah studied abroad in an language-immersion program in Puebla, Mexico. There she took classes and practiced her Spanish.</span></span>

<span id="docs-internal-guid-f9be31cd-7fff-b8bd-c5dc-ba45e98344e4"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Savannah has also been involved in undergraduate research at The College of Business and Administration of Loyola Marymount University. Although she is not a business major, she was involved in an interdisciplinary research project that utilized her interest in biology. She participated in research of the incorporation of biomimicry in the workplace.&nbsp;</span></span>

<span id="docs-internal-guid-f9be31cd-7fff-b8bd-c5dc-ba45e98344e4"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Savannah has a passion for the community and helping others which is demonstrated in her extra-curricular involvement. On campus, Savannah is the vice president of Active Minds, an organization </span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">dedicated to raising mental health awareness among college students. She also volunteers for hospice as the “birthday coordinator.” In this position that she created, she bakes cakes and spends time with patients on their birthdays. Savannah can also be found every Friday night working at the Lord’s Diner, the local soup kitchen in Wichita.&nbsp;</span></span>

Through UIF at Wichita State, Redfern hopes to increase community engagement between WSU and Wichita through the arts and service learning. Currently, she is working on two projects: a service learning LLC and a student-led artisan market.<br/></span></span>
